★New Year’s Eve 2000 - Sleep Over at @DJabbour’s House:
On the eve of what many incorrectly believed to be the millennium, we ushered in the new year with the fear of Y2K. Thankfully for us, we were at Danny’s house, where technology reins supreme. Instead of fretting over unlikely events which were outside of our control, we enjoyed a lovely spread, including what were dubbed ‘evil Oreos,’ because they had red filling.
Although alcohol was not initially offered, we followed Danny’s lead and helped ourselves to his parents (expensive) collection of top-shelf liquors. At some point in the evening, all of the girls that were over at Laura’s house for her party came over to join us. We then thought it would be a great idea to set up a green-screen in Danny’s bedroom and record music videos to an array of artists including, you guessed it, the Spice Girls. The next morning we played Grand Theft Auto (the original) until our parents picked usu up. That’s right, we were young!
★New Year’s Eve 2001 - Movies; Dinner:
So, back when I actually enjoyed being the one to plan the social calendar for the group, I had the fantastic idea of getting about eight of us together for dinner in a movie. Dinner at Cozy Mel’s, the movie being Dude Where’s My Car. The dinner was great, the movie not so much.
If you asked me who was there, at best I could offer a few guesses. The only people that I know for sure were there are Lizzie and Brad, because the three of us came back to my house afterwords. I guess my parents were at a party or something because there was noone at home. So, naturally, I did what any good host does and I offered my guests a beverage. We ended up getting nice and drunk to ring in the new year.
★New Year’s Eve 2002 - Party at Lizzie’s House:
Donning my freshly pierced eyebrow, I attended at party at Lizzie’s house. Among the guests in attendance were Andrea, Laura, Brad, @rkrupen and @DJabbour who DJed the event. We obtained beer via Lizzie’s bedroom window, by a pulley system rigged up by Lizzie’s mom’s boyfriend. He advocated a drunken debacle, her mother did not.
Later on in the evening, @Djabbour and I got into a fight over a cigar. He thought that it was a joint, it was not — He ripped it out of my hand, and threw the smoldering remnants onto Lizzie’s carpeted floor. Needless to say, she and I were not happy with @djabbor for the rest of the evening. At midnight, we flooded out into Locust Street and banged pots and pans to issue in the new year.
★New Year’s Eve 2003 - Party at Kristen’s House:
Of the scores upon scores of parties at Kristen’s house, this is the only one that I can remember being dry. I don’t know what it was, but there was absolutely no alcohol at the party. So, we had sober fun… which roughly translates into being a destructive degenerate. Courtenay, @JonathanSheil and I decided to roam the mean streets of Garden City, stealing Christmas decorations along the way. Apparently, we’re awful thieves, because somewhere along the way, we were caught by the cops!
Always quick on her feet, Courteny provided an alias and told the police whose house we were at. At hearing Kristen’s father’s name, we were promptly allowed to go on our merry way. Once we returned to Kristen’s house, it was just about midnight. We were ambushed on Kristen’s font lawn by the rest of the party, and a giant confetti fight ensued. Happy New Year!
★New Year’s Eve 2004 - Party at Eren’s House:

@Nlaurenrusso was invited to Eren Cannata’s house for hi annual New Year’s Eve party, and of course she brought me and Andrea. Nicole’s mother gave her a C note for the evening, which she promptly spent on Bud Light at the Beer Barn. That’s right $100 and she spent it all on beer. That’s how we roll on Long Island.
The party was great, but per usual, there was some drama-rama. At some point, Nicole snuck off with a guy, per usual. However, said guy turned out to be MY ROOMMATE FROM COLLEGE. Anyway, the best part of my evening occurred when, on our search for Nicole, Andrea finds her in the bushes with my roommate and precedes to call her a slut and stuff.
Andrea and I then decide it would be a great idea to take all of the beer we brought and put it in her car, since we obviously weren’t going to finish it. We solicited the help of some of Eren’s friends, only to discover that they were putting the beer in their car instead of ours. It’s so hard to find good help these days…
★New Year’s Eve 2005 - Party at @RaquelJimena’s House:

Classing it up a bit, @RaquelJimena threw a dinner party at her house: we cooked, we dressed up, we got drunk. @JonathanSheil and @MonaWasser were there along with Laura, Kelly, Nicole and Dan. Good time had by all. While watching New Year’s coverage from across the globe, “Does en Vivo mean live?,” wonders Raquel as we watch the New Year celebrations in Puerto Rico on Telemundo… yes, yes it does.
Since I started drinking at 5:30, I passed out by 11, missed the ball drop and subsequently, I do not know how I got home. This would be the year of drunk.
★New Year’s Eve 2006 - Party at @SimTilver’s House:

The theme: “A Crystal Clear New Year” (I thought of it). The first song of 2006: Come Clean, by Hillary Duff. The result: Tim and I get into a champagne fight. So, for this epic party, I had envisioned everyone dressed to the nines in blue and white garb, sort of a cleansing way to start the year. Tim offered to host the party in his double-wide and the guest list was epic.
We had a great time, but for some reason (could it be the fact that we’re a bunch of alcoholics?) we ran out of champagne, resulting in Tim and I fighting over the last, plastic flute full of sparkling wonderfulness. Apparently, we were lit enough to ALLEGEDLY make some crank phone calls. My defense: if I don’t remember doing it, then I didn’t.
P.S. I won the Champagne fight. I made Tim bleed. Whoops.
★New Year’s Eve 2007 - Party at Aunt Bernadette’s House:
This was the first New Year’s with the family in a loooong time. I don’t know why I wasn’t out with my friends, but I’m sure there’s a very good reason. I was not as drunk as I would have liked to have been, especially for NYE, but I had fun nevertheless.
★New Year’s Eve 2008 – Absolutely Nothing:
Having just returned from Christmas in Paris, I was jet-lagged. Subsequently, it is highly likely that I was asleep when the ball dropped, the second time this decade…
★New Year’s Eve 2009 – Dinner, Drinks and Party @ Novitá:

As if we don’t go to Novitá enough, we went on NYE. @Pasty, @Raque16, @SimTilver and I had a blast hanging out with our bartender friends, Michele, Jen and @JoeLipps. For the low, low price of $120, we were treated to a wonderful cocktail hour with passed hors d’ouvres, a four course dinner and the best part of all, an open bar until 2am. Needless to say, balloon madness ensued. Crazy way to usher in the new year = crazy year.
