Not that I receive many, but I love getting postcards in the mail. I love sending them even more. Some people collect postcards, some collect stamps. I’ve started to collect pictures of mailboxes from which I have sent postcards while traveling. I try an snap a picture if I can, but unfortunately, these are not nearly all of the places that I have sent postcards from. I didn’t send anyone a postcard from this R2D2 mailbox, I just thought it was cool. The USPS celebrated the 30th anniversary of Star Wars by transforming some of their mailboxes into R2D2. Hopefully, I travel to some fun places in the future so I can snap some more mailbox pics!

✭Matinée Wednesday: Round Nineteen…

When I attended the 63rd Annual Tony Awards, Carrie Fisher previewed part of her hysterical comedy, Wishful Drinking to the audience. I knew, right then and there, that I needed to see this show. Aside from being bat-sh*t crazy, this is freakin’ Princess Leia, man — in the flesh! Granted she doesn’t look like this anymore, she’s a brilliant writer and a top-notch comedienne.

My parents had given me the tickets along with the book as a Christmas gift. I had enough time to read the book before seeing the show, which was a good call on my part, because you never know what your going to get when you see Carrie Fisher live. Fortunately for us, I think she was on her antidepressants on the night we went to see the show. She didn’t really deviate from the book too much.

There was plenty of audience interaction, which is something I love, especially when it includes a hard-of-hearing elderly couple and the words “cu*t” and “bit*h.” I mean, some of the stuff that came out of her mouth was priceless. I was in stitches, at times even falling out of my chair.

Of course, my favorite parts of the show were Star Wars related. At one point, a life-size, anatomically correct… doll, i guess you would say, was lowered from the ceiling, on a rotating pedestal. Fisher explains that she found this… doll, created in her likeness, at a Comic Con, once upon a time, and from a certain angle, you can see her va-jay-jay. Crazy, you totally know that some nerd has that in their bedroom…

The closing monologue had to be my favorite.  Fisher dons her “Leia” wig and launches into her famous, “Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi,” monologue from the first Star Wars film. Priceless!

Awesome! Too bad there’s no “H” in Frappuccino, though. Get that Barista a training module!
