This is the ad that was placed in The Stage, circa March 1994, in which one Victoria Adams, Melanie Brown, Melanie Chisholm, Geri Halliwell and Michelle Stephenson would answer, forming the all-girl pop group, Touch. Stephenson would later be replaced by Emma Bunton, creating the Spice Girls. Nearly 17 years later, Viva Forever, the West End musical inspired by the Spice Girls music, written by Jennifer Saunders and produced by Judy Craymer, focuses on the idea of fame and how one achieves it.

Whoopi Goldberg has cut short her West End run in Sister Act. Her mother suffered a stroke and Goldberg rushed home to be at her bedside. Here’s hoping for a speedy recovery!
Melanie Chisholm, formerly of the Spice Girls, has been nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award in the category of Best Actress in a Musical for her portrayal of Mrs. Jostone in the venerable West Side production of Blood Brothers.
The highly anticipated Spice Girls musical has been named “Viva Forever,” after their 1998 hit number one single of the same name. The script is to be written by Kim Fuller, the brother of Simon Fuller, the Girls’ manager and mastermind behind “American Idol.” Kim Fuller also wrote the screenplay for the Spice Girls full-length feature film, “Spice World.” Hopefully, the musical will actually have a plot line, unlike the movie. Geri Halliwell is named as the executive producer with the other girls providing their “creative input” throughout production. The show is set to open in the West End on 5 November 2010.
